The late Dave Brubeck earned a reputation as being historically one of the most distinct and memorable icons of jazz through the ages. I bought the CD for a different reason though. It was primarily to listen to someone who in my estimation is one of the greatest living tenor saxophonists, Jerry Bergonzi.Jerry's harmonic extensions, substitute chords, melodic sense, and overall driving mastery of the instrument, places him in the top five exponents of the instrument (if not number one). His solo on Caravan will make your hair stand on end.I would be remiss not to mention that Dave, his son Chris on bass, and drummer Butch Miles turn in sterling performances.
