Description
Product Description 'You'll be comforted by Kinderknecht's songs as the entire disc is perfect for leaving in the player for soothing sounds of Native America and worldly rhythms that add percussion and even keyboards to the tracks. Wonderfully mixed and produced.' --- Lucky Boyd, MyTexasMusic Cornell Kinderknecht is an award-winning performer of flutes and other woodwind instruments from around the world. His original compositions and playing have been described as soothing, soaring, haunting, and playful with influences of Native America, the Middle East, India, and the Far East. His musical style draws from his experience in the areas of classical, pop, folk, jazz and world music. On his CD Returing Home, Cornell plays flutes from many cultures. He presents Native American flute, Bansuri flute from India, bamboo flute, recorder, and ocarina in beautiful and breathtaking musical settings. The flute is sometimes used as a lone solo voice or accompanied by keyboard and percussion. The music ranges from introspective to exotic to all out fun. Cornell's performance on Returning Home placed him as a finalist for 'Musician of the Year' at the 2006 Texas Music Awards. 'The flute play is absolutely wonderful, and the variety of musical sounds on this work is rather amazing, with influences of Native America, the orient, and even classical baroque music as part of the mix. The pieces flow well from one to another, with both gentle meditative tracks, and lively, upbeat, tracks in the mix. ... I find the music refreshingly different, engaging, and the style of play simply mesmerizing.' --- Rick McDaniel, Heart of the Cedar / Voice of the Wind. Review I find the music refreshingly different, engaging, and the style of play simply mesmerizing. --Rick McDaniel, Heart of the Cedar, CD Review of the Week, July 13, 2005 About the Artist Cornell Kinderknecht is a musician located in Dallas, Texas. He has played music for as long as he can remember. He started playing keyboards, bass, and saxophone in bands when he was a teenager. After finishing an engineering degree, he returned to college to get a music degree in woodwind performance, specializing in modern oboe and bassoon as well as historic woodwind instruments. His passion for the historic instruments naturally led him to the folk instruments from cultures around the world. Today, while still performing music in the classical genre on historic instruments, Cornell extensively performs his own style of music using the woodwind instruments from around the world. See more

I got to see Cornell Kinderknecht perform live and decided to buy one CD after hearing selections from various CDs at the show. At that time, I purchased Nightfall, which is a fantastic CD. I liked that one so much, that I ordered Returning Home from Amazon.Mr. Kinderknecht plays his flutes very expressively and conveys emotion. It's as if his instrument sings to you as you listen and escorts you on the Returning Home trip. The tracks all sound nice, but I do feel there is a disconnect at times between them. By that, I mean it's as if I changed CDs after some of the tracks play to something totally different. It sounds more like a compilation than an actual released album. I only deducted one star for this reason alone. Finally, there are more unaccompanied flute tracks on this CD than on Nightfall.
