Is it the book, not exactly, but you meet many of the Mitford characters created by Jan Karon. We own all the books, and will buy any more Hallmark adaptations created. Hope it is as many as the books. Both highly recommended. this DVD begins the story of the meeting of two souls and the children's book writer, Cynthia (Andie MacDowell), moving to small-town. The yellow house is beside the Episcopal Priest Tim's (Cameron Mathison) abode. Faithful to the novels, you get introduced to Barnabus, Dooley, Vet Hal, Violet the cat, and more. True are the complaints that not all is as Karon wrote. Adaptation liberties were taken. Cynthia's younger and dyed her hair, and Dooley lost his heritage, but you can only put so much into eighty minutes from a decade and a half of published stories. Jan Karon fans must accept this adaptation as fun accompaniment, not a full retelling. That would take a major series and multiple years. Hallmark channel did their very best. Copyrighted 2017 as Mitford Films Inc. "Films," is plural, so there is much hope and prayer that Fr Tim and Cynthia will return for another Mitford Hallmark adventure.Instead of complaining of what's left out or changed, re-read Karon's Mitford.
