New Review in 2015:Well, I've now purchased/repurchased this gem of a recording five times (original cassette; LP; first CD issue; 2007 remaster; and now 2015 "Deluxe Edition"). As mentioned in my original review, for those who know the recordings of Clive, or Clive & Christine, or Richard Thompson, or Any Trouble, already know that this is a "must-own" recording. The latest version includes a nice remaster of the original lo-fi tracks (sounds excellent to me, although the 2007 version wasn't too shabby either), but the real score here are two additional CD's, including two live shows from G&C's final tour in '92. Having seen the duo live many times over their years together, this is a wonderful souvenir of a collaboration that always brought intelligence, wit, astounding talent, finesse, and more than a little guitar virtuosity to the mix. Some of the later variations to the G&C performance (electric guitar accompaniment, piano) are here, and not available anywhere else. As a tiny nit-pick, I would have appreciated a bit more of the onstage banter between the two (this version fades out between each track), but that's a tiny criticism of an otherwise exceptionally worthwhile endeavor.Bottom line, if you're looking at this, you know about what G&C brought to the table, and you should know that this is an absolutely essential addition to their discography.Original Review in 2007:Yes, this is it. Finally, we can throw away our old vinyl and cassette copies of this classic and enjoy it on CD. I was lucky enough to have one of the few original CD pressings of this, and Clive has done a great job on the remaster. Clearer vocals, punchier and louder sound, and all the songs in the versions you know you have to own. Can't wait for the other remasters to make their way to the market.
