In this new album, "Close to Home," Val Mindel (a longtime musician and a founding member of Any Old Time String Band out of California) and daughter Emily Miller (of the popular country band the Sweetback Sisters) continue with the buzzy tight harmonies that make American old-time, country and bluegrass music so compelling. "Close to Home" is just that, brimming with homemade harmonies performed with clarity and skill. Produced by Emily's husband, Jesse Milnes, who provides fingerpicking guitar virtuosity as well as third-part vocals, the album is bound to appeal to anyone who loves country music.
