I have never been more thankful to have ignored negative reviews than I am with this purchase. The Novogratz, with their brand of fun interior decor, were one of the forces that got me started on this obsession with interior design. If you check out any of my reviews, unlike some other people's history, I've actually purchased many, many books on the subject in the past year since this obsession started and I've provided numerous reviews on different books on the subject...and there are still more reviews to come on books I just haven't finished yet...so you can see how much I love this field. I had waited to purchase this book just because of the negative reviews. I thought...do I really want to purchase a book that is essentially just rehashing their show? I mean, after all the title is 'Home by Novogratz' which is the same as their HGTV show so it wasn't like they were trying to hide anything. I've purchased Candice Olson books which are a rehashing of her shows and I've never been disappointed so I thought, lets just go for it. I'm so glad I did! I completely disagree that this books panders to the mass market. Mass market isn't interested in neon appliances or wallpaper on their ceiling, nor are they interested in graffiti'd walls and swinging beds, let alone a lot of the color combinations. Mass market is generally neutral, and the Novogratz are anything but. The first book was on projects that were done prior to their 'fame', so it makes sense that this book contains projects done for the past two seasons of their HGTV show and even includes some other projects which either haven't aired yet or were personal projects. I love being able to go back and see these beautiful spaces and get the breakdown on costs. The tips provided over the pictures do not take away from the pictures or obscure the view in any way. If anything, I love this book more than the first because there are more projects shown, more inspiring pictures, more project details and tips. I have a few "bible's" when it comes to interior design book. Decorate, Design Sponge, Domino and now 'Home by Novogratz'. Whenever I start to feel scared for taking an 'interior design chance', this is the book I'm going to open up. Whenever I don't have faith in myself for doing something I love, but something others will think I'm crazy to have done, this is the book I'm going to open up. This book says "go for it if you love it and it makes you happy". And I must say, I love the neon pink hardcover of this book:)
