For children who do not grasp a concept easily and need repetition for several days this book is PERFECT! We recently switched our Math curriculum to this series as the one we were using "jumped" all over the place and the children were just not grasping each important math concept. We have Grades 1, 2 & 3 of these books so far and there is quite a difference between Grade 2 & 3 in the layout. Grades 1 & 2 are "wide open", large writing etc whereas this book, Grade 3, has smaller writing and there is quite a lot more writing for the instructions. Of course we are talking Grade 3 level so expect it be harder, right?! If you have a child with learning difficulties especially in the area of reading, be prepared as a parent to be spending time with your child as he/she completes their math. They are probably not going to be able to work independently. HOWEVER if your child is a confident reader then he/she should do great. Each sub-unit has an example of one of the problems already filled in and completed so that is really helpful. At the beginning along with the introduction are several pages of games, activities and puzzles which are excellent. This is followed by 6 Main Units with sub units:1 - Patterns and Algebra 12 - Number Sense 13 - Measurement 14 - Logic and Systematic Search 15 - Patterns and Algebra 26 - Number Sense 2Price is EXCELLENT! Our other Math books were costing $40 a piece so this is a really great price. Some may wonder if you needed the supporting curriculum to work with these books. We have not found that to be necessary. This book is independent and the instructions are very self-explanatory. NOW please note there are no answers, those can be found online, BUT at this level you probably will not.If you have a child that LOVES Math, then he/she is going to just want to keep working on this book. If you have a reluctant child then the pages are not too overwhelming to tackle.Highly recommended from our house to yours :)
