He formed his first professional band, called Secret Agent, at age 19. This rock band attracted a loyal following on the Louisiana music scene in Shreveport, Baton Rouge and Monroe. However, Daniel had wanted to move back to southern California, where he had lived as a child, to see if he could make it in music. So, he packed up and made his way back to Los Angeles, like thousands do everyday. Daniel was able to make a living playing locally in the southern California area. Soon after moving to southern California. Daniel was invited to an open mike night by a couple of friends at the Blue Saloon in North Hollywood. After the first impromptu gig, their trio was offered the regular Wednesday night gig. The trio, laughingly called Tres Locos, gigged constantly and eventually landed another house band gig at La Valentinos (now called Universal Bar & Grill) in Universal City, California where they attracted a loyal following. After a couple of years of doing the acoustic gig, Daniel put together his next band, Doctor Blue. This 6-piece cover band rocked the southern California club scene during the 1990's. However, playing clubs, parties and corporate gigs was not fulfilling his artistic thirst. His songwriting had taken a backseat to playing cover gigs in order to make a living. So, in a bold move, Daniel decided to dedicate all of his musical energy to writing and recording original music. He landed a straight job and began working on his songs. Daniel built a small studio in his garage and went about recording a demo. He recruited long-time friends Charles Button and Jimmy Volpe to play on the recording. Daniel released the CD to some publications and about 20 college/community radio stations. The response he received for his songs was impressive. With no promotion, the CD received airplay and great reviews on 11 radio stations. Also, his demo was submitted to Music Connection Magazine for review and it received the highest rated "rock" review of the year and was featured in the Top 20 Demo Reviews Issue. Following this limited release of his demo, Daniel and his band played numerous gigs throughout the southern California area, including being the host band on the last day of the Topanga Days Music Festival in Topanga, California. This festival has been ongoing for 30 years and about 15,000 loyal fair-goers attend every year. After receiving such a great response, Daniel was signed to Blue Earth Records, a small independent label in Venice, California. Blue Earth Records put him into a major studio with co-producer, Jon Lowry, who has worked with Santana, Mr. Big, David Lee Roth and other stalwarts in the music industry. Daniel co-produced the new album, which contains 12 songs, and the results are remarkable. The players on the new album are longtime friends and band mates Jocelyn Michelle, Charles Button and Jimmy Volpe. The chemistry and history that Daniel has with these players really paid off in the studio. The sounds are full, the grooves are tight and the material is strong, and it is hard to go wrong with this winning combination. See more
